Message from the President

Dear Guest,

Welcome to the University of Maryland’s Panhellenic Association (PHA) Website! I am so excited that you are taking the time to look at our page. The PHA is made up of fourteen NPHC chapters that together form the largest women’s organization here at the University of Maryland. It is our goal to help the women within the Greek community be their best selves as individuals, as chapters, and as members of the overall campus. With nearly 2000 women in our community, our continuous growth shows how valuable the Greek experience is for so many women on our campus.

PHA is founded on the pillars of sisterhood, leadership, scholarship, and service. Together, these are the values that bring each individual chapter member together as a community. When a woman signs up to be a member of a Panhellenic organization, she is not only joining her chapter, but a network of chapters that work together to exhibit the ideals and practices of our founders. The PHA also works closely with the Interfraternity Council, as well as men and women of the United Greek and Panhellenic Councils.

Philanthropy is something that PHA chapters are very passionate about. Whether working to raise money and awareness toward the philanthropies of our national organizations or other campus initiatives, the time, effort, and support of Greek women provide a great service to the College Park community. Panhellenic women are involved in religious organizations, philanthropic organizations, academic honor societies, campus Living and Learning Programs, sports teams, teaching assistants, and over 50 other campus organizations, jobs, and clubs. Women in the Panhellenic community are also expected to be students first, and for the past 10 years, the average GPA of Greek Women has exceeded the all-women’s average at the University, and we continue to strive for excellence. Most of all, we strive to foster an inclusive community that promotes our values.

If you have any questions about sorority life or joining an organization in our community, please feel free to contact me at umdphapresident@gmail.com

Loyally,

Marie LaMonica
